Some of the horses

My first passion is for horses. They are my true love. Ever since I can remember I wanted a horse. Well my first horse was Sky. He is an Arabian gelding that is now 27 years old. I bought him when he was 2. He taught me so much and he also taught so many people to learn to ride. I gave lessons on him for over fifteen years and he was always a willing partner that knew the skill of the rider. He is retired now.


WOW!!! I don't have any pictures of him on my computer!!  I know what I am doing this weekend!!

Agape is a 29 year old half Arabian mare that also gave a lot of kids riding lessons. She is retired with Sky.

Then there is Rob's horse Barach. He is an 12 year old half Arabian gelding. We showed him for a couple years in western pleasure but now he is a trail horse. And a really nice one.

Ok.... I did not prepare for this blog. None of his pictures are scanned into the computer either!!


Max is my pride and joy. He is an11 year old Arabian gelding. I bred his mother and raised from a foal. He was a stallion until 3 years ago. I have shown him in halter but never under saddle. He is now my trail horse and still has a lot to learn. He has been the most trainable horse I have ever had. He is so much fun to ride!! He is the horse I am riding in my profile picture.

Well I have three other horses but I know I don't have any pictures of them in my computer. So that is all for now.

I am hoping for another beautiful day tomorrow!!

Perfect weather!!

Today is going to be the perfect weather day! Highs in the 60's no wind and full sunshine. Couldn't ask for better weather. Now let's see how much I can get done today, because they are calling for windy conditions for the rest of the week. Maybe it will finally dry up with all that wind.

Once I get home from work today I need to shear a couple of goats, get a horse ridden and maybe get the electric netting moved for the sheep and goats so they can munch on some more grass. Oh yeah, I need to clean up my flower and veggie gardens too. Ok.... maybe not all of that today.

More introductions!

On to more introductons....

Here is Hailey. She was dumped on our property in February and I just did not have the heart to take her to the animal shelter. She is turning out to be a very good girl.

Here is our shetland ram DiNozzio. He has wonderful crimpy fleece that he passes alot to his offspring and I just love his horns!

Here is our angora buck Rufus. We purchased him in October and he was bred to Abby and Ziva. He is Alex and Adian's sire. He really produces the mohair.

Here are a couple of wethers that where born last year before they came to my farm. They are both offspring of DiNozzio.

And here is Agatha. She was born March 18,2010. Her mother is a black angora named Cedar that I bought last November. Her sire was a white angora buck. She will be staying on the farm.

First blog!!

Hi everyone! This is my first attempt of writing on this blog. So I thought I would just give a brief description of what I plan to do with this blog. And some introductions to some of the animals on the farm.

I started my adventure with fiber about a year ago when I brought home some colored angora goats and some shetland sheep. I originally brought them home because their owner was moving to California and wanted them to go to a good home. I had been taking care of these animals for a couple of years and just loved them! Now that they are here I have become more and more involved in everything fiber! Ok.....it is more like I am addicted to it! I have started to weave, crochet and spin fiber! So alot of this blog will be showing what all I have done. And will include items I have for sale including weaving projects, fiber products, and animals.



Ok, on to introductions!

Here is Sammie. Our Great Pyreness. She really is not our flock gaurdian dog, but our whole house gaurdian dog. She really likes to sleep on the bed with the humans if it is cool enough inside. She is very spoiled!! But who couldn't love those big dark eyes! She is also the farm supervisor and very good at her job.

Here are Abby and Ziva. Abby is the faded red angora and Ziva is the black angora. They are both friendly and like to be scratched under the chin.

These are the first two born at Kansas Fiber Farm. They are both angora bucklings. Alex, the one in the the yellow sweater is Abby's kid. And Adian, the one in the blue sweater is Ziva's kid. Alex will be staying at the farm and will be the companion for the herd buck. Adian will be going to a new home. He will be for sale after he is weaned. A deposit can be placed on him to hold him until weaning.
